EU Heroes aims to learn from the experience of existing solar PV projects. A range of relevant PV pilots are being monitored to provide “real-world” experience from which to develop new business models. These pilots have been carefully selected to provide case studies of different approaches and scales within different countries, allowing the project to bring together state of the art approaches from across Europe.
Report on smart-grid adaptation of PV case studies
This report reviews a group of monitored case studies of PV installations and analyses whether these projects could be adapted to minimise their network impact and improve financial viability. It reports on the results of monitoring performance and utilisation of the PV systems and tests whether changes to the systems could result in more viable projects.
Profitability analysis of case studies
This report reviews a group of monitored case studies of PV installations and analyses whether these projects could be adapted to minimise their network impact and improve financial viability. It reports on the results of monitoring performance and utilisation of the PV systems and tests whether changes to the systems could result in more viable projects.
The monitoring and evaluation of projects will cover:
• System performance and energy output indicators
• Self-consumption of locally generated clean electricity and power exchanges with the grid
• Practical experience of system operation
• Typical days of pilot operation and Operation Condition Maps linking production to meteorological parameters
These case studies will be used to aid the development of new business models for community solar. They will also help us to explore and develop better techniques for matching the on-site demand with the production from PV systems.
