We’re pleased to announce a series of webinars in July that will draw on experience from across Europe to review how energy communities delivering solar PV projects can contribute to achieving net zero carbon emissions.
The webinars will draw on experience from the EU Heroes Horizon 2020 project, bringing together a partnership of seven agencies from across Europe to understand how energy communities can establish PV projects that support the transition to a flexible, low carbon energy system.
The webinars will be of interest to:
- Policymakers working to implement the EU Renewable Energy Directive
- Communities interested in developing their own solar PV projects
- Electricity network operators working to integrate solar projects into their networks
- Anyone with an interest in a just transition to net zero carbon.

1st July 2020: Shaping the future of solar communities 10.30am – 1pm (CET)
The webinar will review the evolving context for community-led PV projects, including case studies of successful projects and findings from the EU HEROES project. The webinar will also include an opportunity to discuss the implications of the Renewable Energy Directive Articles 21 & 22 on prosumers and energy communities and future policy to support energy communities.

8th July 2020: Enabling community PV – A Policy Blueprint 10.30am – 1pm (CET)
The webinar will present policy recommendations to enable the development of energy communities which support the transition to a smart, flexible, low carbon energy system. It will present examples of policies and initiatives from across Europe to illustrate new approaches to help ensure that energy communities can play a role in delivering a just transition which empowers citizens.

15th July 2020: Energising Community PV 10.30am – 1pm (CET)
The webinar will explore lessons learned from existing community PV projects for anyone working to develop solar communities. It will also highlight some emerging opportunities for community solar and models for successful community projects.
